Mariners are advised that contractor Shearwater Marine Services Ltd is undertaking a dive project at Port Ellen Ferry Terminal, Isle of Islay which will involve separate dives undertaken on 30 August and 4 September 2018.
The purpose of the project is to clean the hull of RoRo ferry MV Hebridean Isles and dives will be undertaken from the quayside with a safety boat in attendance. At all times while divers are in the water the ferry will display the appropriate navigation lights and the divers will only be working on the seaward side of the hull. The dive team supervisor will liaise with the harbour operations manager and will monitor VHF channel 16.
Works are scheduled to be undertaken overnight between 21:00 and 06:00hrs on each evening and during this time all vessels navigating within the approaches to the inner harbour are requested to maintain a look-out for the divers, proceed with caution and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly.
