Mariners are advised that work to undertake essential maintenance on three of the linkspan berth pier fenders at Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal, Firth of Clyde as notified in NTM 71/21 could not be undertaken as planned and will now commence on Monday 11 October 2021.
Prior to starting the inspection, the contractor will liaise with the Harbour Manager and ferry masters to ensure works will not impact on timetabled ferry services. Communications will be maintained using VHF channels 12 and 16.
Thereafter, weather permitting the maintenance works supported by the workboat are scheduled to be undertaken over 4 consecutive nights commencing about 20:00hrs on 11 October and completing each morning before resumption of timetabled ferry services.
Works require that each day one of the three fender assemblies will be removed for a 24hr period. During this time ferry masters are advised to manoeuvre with caution when berthing.
The pier will be closed to berthing by all vessels each day between 20:00 to 06:00 and vessels navigating in the vicinity of Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal at this time are requested to do so with caution, maintain a lookout for the workboat and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash.
