Mariners are advised that weather permitting, from 24 August 2020 pier fender repair works will commence at Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal Pier, South Uist.

Following initial works to set up the site on the pier the works thereafter will be predominantly undertaken from the pier deck with materials and contractors operating from a man-basket suspended within the linkspan berthing area. A safety boat will be in attendance and the works will also involve the use of divers. Flag A ‘Diving Operations’ will be displayed at all times when divers are in the water.

Other than for scheduled ferry operations the pier will be closed to berthing by all vessels between the hours of 08:00 to 15:00. During this time the dive supervisor will maintain radio communications on VHF channels 12 and 16 throughout any dive project.

Works are expected to be completed within 6 weeks.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Lochboisdale Ferry Terminal during this time are requested to do so with caution, maintain a lookout for the contractors and any dive team and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly during the period of the works
