NTM 14/21 Asset Condition Survey Dive Projects, Firth of Clyde and West Coast of Scotland
Mariners are advised that CMAL are about to commence asset condition surveys of its ports, harbours and other facilities that are operated primarily in support of lifeline ferries throughout the Clyde and west of Scotland.
The surveys will be conducted by divers operating from either a support vessel, the structure or the shore. Unless otherwise indicated, surveys at each location should be completed within one day.
Works will be undertaken over several weeks and there will be no disruption to scheduled ferry services. However, to ensure the safety of the divers at some locations it may be necessary to implement temporary restrictions on the use of facilities by other vessels and calls by non-scheduled ferries. When necessary these will be subject of location specific NTMs.
Weather permitting, works will commence on 01 February 2021 with dive surveys scheduled to be undertaken at the following locations on or about the indicated dates.
01/02/21 Sound of Kerrera, Gallanach & Kerrera Ferry Slipways
02/02/21 Firth of Clyde, Cumbrae Ferry Slipway
03/02/21 Loch Long, Portavadie & Kilbrannan Sound, Cloanaig Ferry Slipways
04/02/21 Kyles of Bute, Colintraive Ferry Terminal & Rhubadoch Ferry Slipway
An A-Flag will be displayed at all times when divers are in the water and the dive supervisor will maintain VHF communication on channels 12 and 16.
Mariners navigating on the indicated dates near to the locations listed are requested to do so with caution, regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash and stay well clear when an A flag is being displayed on the shore, structure or any vessels supporting the works.
Further NTMs will be issued as the work progresses and details can be obtained using the contact details below.
