NTM 12/25 Foot and Mouth Disease
The United Kingdom Government has introduced a ban on personal meat imports from European Union countries in response to a rising number of Foot and Mouth Disease outbreaks in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.
Until further notice, items including sandwiches, cheese, cured meats, raw meats, or milk which originated in European Union countries will not be permitted to be landed or brought ashore by passengers or crew in any CMAL port. Please note This ban does not include personal imports arriving from Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man.
In addition, International Catering Waste will not be accepted by any CMAL ports from vessels which have recently called in European Union ports.
The Regulations will be amended as necessary and are available here, and guidance is available here.
Unless otherwise promulgated, if the NTM is still marked as ‘Active’ it remains in force.
