NTM 10/22 Oban Bay and Sound of Kerrera, Bathymetric Surveys

Mariners are advised that weather and sea state permitting, on 26 January 2022, surveyors Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys will commence high resolution bathymetric surveys of the following areas of Oban Bay and the Sound of Kerrera, Argyll.

26/01/22                 Railway Pier and South Pier, Oban Bay

27 – 28/01/22          Kerrera Breakwater and Gallanach Ferry Slipway, Sound of Kerrera

The work at each location is expected to be completed within 1-day and will be undertaken from survey vessel Coastal Sensor II.

Communication will be maintained with CalMac Ferries Ltd and others as required via VHF radio throughout all survey works. Surveys will be completed between sailings of the scheduled ferry services to avoid any disruption.

All vessels navigating in the vicinity of Oban Bay and Sound of Kerrera during this time are requested to maintain a lookout for the survey vessel and pass at a safe distance and speed to minimise the effects of wash on the vessel.
