NTM 09/22 Port Ellen, Islay, Acoustic Measuring Device Deployment
Mariners are advised that weather permitting on 21 January 2022, Partrac Ltd are to deploy seabed mooring frames containing acoustic measuring devices at two locations near to Port Ellen, Isle of Islay. Their purpose is to measure the water column current profile and surface waves.
The seabed frames containing the instruments are 1.5 x 1.5m and stand 0.8m proud of the seabed. They will be established at the undernoted locations, and each will be marked by a lit special mark buoy.

The devices are to be deployed using a workboat and will be established in these positions for up to 6 months.
During this time, it is requested passing vessels maintain a safe distance from the surface marker buoys.
