Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has advised that the planned shutdown of berth number one to replace the linkspan will take place from 1 February to 28 February at Oban Ferry Terminal.

During the work, all services will continue from berth number two, however there could be adjustments to sailing times. Passengers should refer to CalMac’s website for further information www.calmac.co.uk

This is the next stage of the Oban harbour project, which has been facilitated by the work completed earlier this year to extend the vehicle marshalling area.

CMAL senior civil engineer, Ruairidh Campbell, said: “This project is part of our ongoing programme of harbour upgrades and modifications across our network to provide safe and efficient lifeline ferry services to communities around Scotland.

“The linkspan, which is the terminal’s original linkspan and is predominately used by the Mull ferry service, has reached the end of its serviceable life and needs to be replaced.  The existing support structures will also be strengthened as part of this project.

“We have worked closely with the contractor and CalMac to ensure there is as little disruption to services as possible. Throughout the duration of the project, services will run from berth number two, however we would advise passengers to check CalMac’s website for any adjustments.”
