Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) has welcomed the announcement today of the preferred tenderer for the next contract to operate the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Services (CHFS). The contract, lasting up to eight years, will begin on 1st October 2016 and the preferred tenderer status has been awarded by Transport Scotland to CalMac Ferries Ltd, the current operator of the service.

Kevin Hobbs, CEO of CMAL said:

“We have worked with CalMac Ferries Ltd over the first nine years of this service and we look forward to continuing our working relationship when the formal procurement process is concluded.”

It is the Scottish Government’s intention to award the contract to CalMac Ferries Ltd following a standard 10-day standstill period.
