Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL), which owns the ferries, ports, harbours and infrastructure necessary for ferry services serving the west coast of Scotland and the Clyde Estuary, has appointed a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager and a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer.

Richie Morgan, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager and George MacRae, Mechanical and Electrical Engineer have recently started their new roles at CMAL, based at the organisation’s Port Glasgow office.

Richie is responsible for developing a robust Safety & Environmental Management System (SEMS),whilst George will be responsible for all the mechanical and electrical machinery used throughout CMAL’s network of harbours, including the new linkspans and passenger access system (PAS) being designed for installation at the new Brodick Ferry Terminal.

Formerly a British Army Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Richie secured employment after leaving the armed forces at Milford Docks in Wales. He was instrumental in developing and driving the Milford Haven Port Authority ‘Zero Harm’ initiative, which aimed to reduce hazards and dangers in the port estate, making sure the organisation ended each year with no harm coming to staff, contractors, customers and visitors.

George has spent more than 25 years working in the marine and offshore engineering industry and was instrumental in designing and project managing the supply of a variety of electro-hydraulic mechanical handling equipment for Subsea 7, a world-leading seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services contractor to the offshore energy industry.
