Engineers will be on-site at Tiree Ferry Terminal next week (22 March) to carry out routine snagging works following completion of the pierhead repairs in December last year.

Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL), which owns the pier, has advised that a team from its contractor George Leslie Ltd will be on-site for five weeks. The minor works include the installation of chains and brackets on the fender piles, levelling the top of the fenders, resetting mooring bollards and general tidying of the works site and surrounding areas. The works will not impact ferry services.

The project to return the old pierhead to operational use for third party vessels was completed last year, and also delivered robust repairs to several areas on the main pier.

Nasir Uddin, senior civil engineer at CMAL, said: “Returning to site to carry out minor snagging works is a routine part of any engineering project.

“The team of engineers will be on-site until the end of April. We will be adhering to government guidelines and COVID-19 measures, ensuring the safety of all those on-site, and the surrounding community. We would like to thank the residents of Tiree for their patience as we carry out these final snagging works in time for summer tourism and travel.”
