Latitude | 55º 57.619′ North (WGS-84 datum) |
Longitude | 004º 48.857′ West (WGS-84 datum) |
Mariners are advised that week commencing 19th October 2020, contractor George Leslie LTD will be on site beginning Linkspan replacement works at Gourock Ferry Terminal, Firth of Clyde. The works are scheduled to be completed by late December 2020.
Throughout this time scheduled ferry services will continue operation from the new steps structure, but mariners should be aware that the linkspan continues to be closed to berthing by all vessels. This will be strictly enforced throughout the period of the works.
During the works a small safety boat and workboat will be in operation.
On or around 23 October, the crane barge Lara 1 will arrive on site and on 26 October is scheduled to lift the old linkspan from its position and install its new replacement.
While the barge is alongside the linkspan it is essential that all vessels navigating in the vicinity of Gourock Ferry Terminal proceed at minimum safe speed to avoid causing any wash that could cause movement of the barge during this challenging operation.
During any marine works the supervisor will liaise with the Harbour Manager and ferry Masters and Communications will be maintained using VHF radio channels 12 and 16.
Until further notification informing harbour users that works have concluded mariners navigating near to or in the vicinity of Gourock Ferry Terminal al are advised to maintain a look-out for workboats, maintain a safe distance and pass at minimum speed to reduce vessel wash.
