NTM 33/15 Dive Project to Remove Inner Harbour Channel Obstruction, Port Ellen
Mariners are advised that during the morning of Thursday 28th May 2015 a dive team from GSS (Plant) Ltd will be undertaking a dive project to remove a rock obstruction that has been located within the main channel to the inner harbour area at Port Ellen, Isle of Islay.
The dive project will be undertaken from workboat Dorus Mor and will display Flag A “Diving Operations” at all times while divers are in the water. The dive team supervisor and vessel skipper will liaise with the Harbour Manager and will monitor VHF channel 16. The dive operation will not impact on scheduled ferry operations however, there may be short periods of time when the channel will be closed to all traffic to ensure the safety of divers in the water.
Port operations staff will monitor and regulate all vessel activities within the channel throughout the duration of the dive project and during this time all mariners navigating in the vicinity of the location are advised to do so with extreme caution and regulate their speed to minimise the effects of wash accordingly.
