Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has built a new shelter facility at Tiree Ferry Terminal, aimed at providing enhanced comfort and convenience for passengers.

Following the removal of the previous shelter during the pierhead repairs in December 2021, CMAL has listened to community feedback and has replaced the small building at the bottom of the pier.

The new facility is situated at the bottom of the pier, close to where the ferry comes in. It has seating, heating, LED lighting, and is wheelchair accessible.

Phil Sherry, civil engineering project manager at CMAL, said:

“We listened to feedback from the community following the removal of the previous shelter during pier improvement works in 2021. The existing building at the top of the pier still serves as the main waiting room facility for passengers, however this new facility will provide welcomed shelter from the weather as passengers wait for the ferry to come in.”

The new shelter is now available for passenger use; however, passengers are requested to wait for directions from port staff when ferries are loading/unloading vehicles.
